John Boehm Youth Grant

John Boehm was a citizen of Lewisville and one of the original founders of Keep Lewisville Beautiful (KLB). One of John Boehm's passions was to empower youth groups to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment. To honor John's years of service to the community, KLB donates funds to help youth groups complete community service projects. He was particularly interested in helping scout groups and projects on school campuses.

KLB is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower the citizens of Lewisville through education to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment. Four times each year, KLB will honor a youth group through a John Boehm Youth Grant award of up to $500 each quarter--that is a total of $2000 that KLB awards grants for youth projects that educate and foster stewardship of the local environment. The grant requirements are simple:

WHO: The John Boehm Youth Grant will be given to adult sponsored youth groups with 5 or more youth participants.

WHAT: Projects shall reflect one or more of the following KLB Goals: (1) Litter Prevention. (2) Beautification/Community Improvement. (3) Waste Reduction/Resource Conservation. (4) Environmental Education.

GRANT RANGE/GEOGRAPHIC AREA:It is the policy of KLB to fund projects located within the city limits of Lewisville.

WHEN: Application deadlines and award dates are as follows:
Quarter 1: Spring- Applications are due March 1, winner will be awarded April 1
Quarter 2: Summer- Applications are due June 1, winner will be awarded July 1
Quarter 3: Autumn- Applications are due September 1, winner will be awarded October 1
Quarter 4: Winter- Applications are due December 1, winner will be awarded January 1

Please note that applications are due in the KLB office by 5pm on the deadline date. Applications recieved after 5pm will be saved for consideration in the next quarter. All projects are voted upon by the KLB board of directors. In the case of multiple applicants during one quarter, all applicants that do not win can reapply each following quarter for funding.

WHAT ELSE?: A brief Project Report is required within 10 days of the project completion. The report shall include before and after photographs of the project, a brief description of the project, what was learned, the number of volunteer hours it took to complete the project, the number of education hours, both the start and end dates of the project, and a sign in sheet listing all project participants and their ages. In addition, project specifications should be included in the report as they pertain to your project--for example: the number of plants that were planted, number of recycling bins installed, garden measurements in square feet, etc. If you have any questions about what to include in your report, please contact the KLB office at 972-538-5949 and we will be more than happy to assist you.
