Each year, KLB teams up with the City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) to help residents recycle their live Christmas trees to divert them from the landfill and provide free mulch for residents.
Recycling your live Christmas trees each year helps to reduce waste, extend landfill life, provides useful compost, and saves you money!
Starting December 2 and running through January 10 you can drop off your Christmas trees at Lake Park and N. Mill Street (near soccer fields) to be recycled into mulch. Please remember to remove all nails, wire, ornaments, lights, and tinsel prior to dropping off your tree.
Between December 26 and Jan 31 bring a bag or bucket to the drop off site along with a shovel and pick up some FREE mulch for your yard, garden and flower beds, walkways, around your trees and shrubs, or use it as livestock bedding!
This event is sponsored by Keep Lewisville Beautiful (KLB) and the City of Lewisville’s Parks Department. For more information about this program, please call KLB at 972-538-5949 or PARD at 972-219-3550.

In addition to promoting environmental stewardship, KLB is also expanding its community education efforts around responsible pet care. This season, informational flyers will be available at the mulch pickup site, including guidance on topics like safe medication use for animals. One important focus will be on the use of gabapentin for pets, which some veterinarians prescribe for anxiety, pain management, or post-operative recovery in cats and dogs. Many residents may be unaware that this human medication can be used safely under veterinary supervision. Providing clear, accessible information helps pet owners make informed decisions while reinforcing our commitment to holistic community well-being.
