Ready, Set, Grow! Nominate for Yard of the Month
The purpose of the Yard of the Month program is to recognize and support Lewisville residents who strive to beautifully maintain their property and enhance the overall appearance of the Lewisville community. The program is managed by the Keep Lewisville Beautiful Beautification Committee, and judging is done by KLB staff, board, and volunteers.
Each month, April through September, residents may nominate a yard for our Yard of the Month. The committee will select one home to feature as our Yard of the Month winner, and will showcase them in email communications, on our website and social media pages. Holiday Yard of the Month will be hosted in October and December for special displays that boost pride, engagement, and fun in our community.
Winners have the honor of displaying the official Keep Lewisville Beautiful Yard of the Month lawn sign in front of your home to share your achievement with your neighbors. The program will award monthly winners during the months of April through September for landscaping, and for holiday decorations during the months of October and December.
Yards of the Month will be awarded on the first week of each calendar month.
Guidelines
Landscaping Awards (April through September):
Yard of the Month candidates will be judged on the total appearance of their exterior property and front yard as viewed from the street. Criteria for judging will be based on the visual attractiveness, creativity, originality, beautification, and overall maintenance. Special consideration will be given to landscapes that include a variety of native plant species, water conservation techniques, and Roots for Wings Certified landscaping.
- All City of Lewisville residential properties are eligible to be nominated for Yard of the Month.
- The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents or that of a professional landscaper or groundskeeper.
- The same property cannot receive more than one award in the same calendar year (Not including Holiday Decoration Contests).
- Winners may be disqualified if their property is in violation of any city ordinances.
- Winners must be willing to have photos of their yard published on the Keep Lewisville Beautiful website and social media.
Decorative Awards (October and December):
Yard of the Month candidates for decorative awards are judged solely on the exterior appearance of their property as viewed from the street. General maintenance and upkeep of the yard and home is included in the judging. Overall appearance, creativity, decorating in the “spirit of the holiday”, and a visually appealing façade are considered.
October: The "Keep Lewisville BOO-tiful" award for October will be judged on the house with the best Halloween decorations. Spookies, pumpkins, skeletons, and black cats are all in order, with lights and animation as a plus. Judging will take place Oct 21-27th.
December: Holiday Yard of the Month awards for December will be judged for 5 decorative categories: Most Beautiful, Most Creative, Best of Season, Best Musical Display, and People's Choice. Theme, creativity and originality in lighting and decorations will be considered, as will daylight and evening display. Judging will take place December 14- 22nd.
Contest Submissions – Yard of the Month
- Registration is FREE!
- Residents may nominate their own yard or another resident’s yard for Yard of the Month.
- Nominations begin on the 1st of the month to the end of the month. Winners will be chosen the first week of the following month (ex. nominations submitted during April will be chosen the first week of May).
